JUNIOR SECTION
Surbiton is a wonderful place to learn to play golf from a young age. Our thriving Junior section, under the tutelage of our team of Professionals, offers an early introduction to golf for individuals and families. Weekly roll ups, school holiday coaching camps and regular club competitions are just a small part of activities offered.
Our Junior Match Squads compete against a number of local clubs and some of our past juniors have gone on to compete in County, Regional, National and World Championships.
COACHING
Junior coaching is provided by our dedicated Junior Pro. Weekly group lessons are good value and available to book all year round. 121 coaching is also available on request.
During the school holidays, we offer Golf Camps which are funded through Junior membership. They are generally 3 hours in length and cover a variety of golf skills in a fun and engaging atmosphere.
EVENTS AND ROLL UPS
We value the importance of our young players spending time on the course and our volunteer Junior Organisers manage a full calendar of Junior events.
During the summer months, Junior roll ups take place on Tuesday and Sunday afternoons and provide a block of tee slots that Juniors are able to reserve. This not only provides an opportunity for Juniors to gain experience on the course and gain their handicap but is also the perfect way for Juniors to get to know and learn from each other.
Three main Junior events are held throughout the season; the Season launch in the Spring, the Summer BBQ and the Season Finale. All juniors and their families are invited to play 9 or 18 holes, hear from our Junior organisers about the latest developments and join together for a laid back meal.
COMPETITIONS
The Junior Organisers have excellent links with Surrey Golf and each year nominate Juniors to join the Surrey Development and Match Squads. They also actively encourage Juniors to take part in the JAGS and Rookie Tours that are hosted by Surrey Golf for young players.
For those Juniors who have gained their Handicap, there is the opportunity to play in competitions and represent Surbiton in league matches.
Each year, a match squad is selected who play regular fixtures against other Surrey golf clubs in the Guildford and District Junior Golf League, the U18 Rookie League, the Christies Cup and the Surrey Interclub League.
