Course Open (updated 23 September at 05:43)

The course will be open - holes 1 to 18 on Saturday August 1st and Sunday August 2nd for the Monthly Medal.

If a ball comes to rest in an area affected by the drainage works eg a trench that has been cut, the ball may be lifted and dropped at the nearest point of relief and no nearer the hole without penalty.

Please see below for the rules for playing the course while the drainage works are active
Following feedback from a number of members who have asked that we keep the rules simple for playing the course while the drainage works are active, please see below the rules that are in operation from August 1 until the works are completed.

  1. Weekends – Barring something unexpected, the full 18 holes will be open for play at weekends. If a ball comes to rest in an area affected by the drainage works eg a trench that has been cut, the ball may be lifted and dropped at the nearest point of relief and no nearer the hole without penalty.
  2. Knockout competitions - So that holes on the front nine can be played in index order, knockout competitions should be played 1 to 4 then 1 to 4 again and then 9 to 18. Knockout players should then alternate with people waiting on the first tee
    • Sudden death holes start at the 1st hole as normal
  3. Competitions during weekdays eg 5 day stableford -  To avoid unnecessary congestion, competitions on weekdays will be played as follows: 1-4, 9 to 18 and then 1 to 4 again. Players playing the second 1 to 4 should alternate with people waiting on the tee.
    • On Tuesdays for Ladies competitions the first tee will be closed until 3pm. Play may be possible from the 9th tee from 1pm
  4. Social golf – This should be played over 14 holes only on holes 1 to 4 and then 9 to 18. If members want to play an additional four holes they should do that over 1 to 4 but:
    • They must wait until a society has teed off
    • At other times they should put their ball in the chute and play in chute order.
  5. Indices - For the second set of holes      1 to 4 the indices are as follows:
    • For men - hole 1 index 1, hole 2 index 13, hole 3 index  3 and hole 4 index 9
    • For ladies hole 1 index 1, hole 2 index 13, hole 3 index  3 and hole 4 index 7

If in doubt please ask in the Pro shop for guidance
