Our course – one of the best presented in Surrey - has been evolving and adapting to golf technology, and the needs of golfers, since 1895. The original course comprised nine holes and was designed by local Professional, Tom Dunn - a prolific designer of the late Victorian era. Dunn designed some 137 courses in Great Britain including: Broadstone, Lindrick and Ganton, the latter designed in conjunction with Harry Varden.
As a result, the course offers a surprising test - with narrow fairways, small greens, plenty of mature trees and changes in elevation. Members love it because every round feels like a different golfing experience.
Presented for enjoyment
Our Greens committee and greens staff set-up the course so it can be enjoyed by golfers of all ages and skill levels. Challenges are strategically placed for low handicappers and a more forgiving setup can be enjoyed by shorter hitters. Although designed in 1895, the course also suits people who may be tight on time. We have 4 hole, 8 hole and 10 hole loops so you can pick and choose how long you want to be on the course.
One of the many benefits of being a club owned by the members is that we reinvest any surplus in a continuous course and clubhouse improvement plan – including course machinery - that ensures that the experience will only get better. Our excellent greens staff take regular advice from a turf specialist to keep the course and playing surfaces in tip-top condition. As one small example of our ever-improving policies, we have recently doubled the amount of top dressing we apply to our greens each year and changed the format of the dressing so that it causes minimum disruption to member enjoyment whilst delivering a very true putting surface that is the envy of many of our neighbouring courses.
So if you’re looking for golf membership, a society golf venue or just a great day out on the course - come and visit – you’re sure of a warm welcome and a great experience.
